ABOUT DIANE

CONTACT

Diane Havnen-Smith works with adults, children, couples, and families with a wide range of presenting issues. She is also the Clinical Director for Me, Too. & Company, a grief support program in Portland for children and families. Diane collaborates with clients as they seek to overcome struggles and unearth preferred ways of experiencing their lives and relationships. Having a high regard for the strengths and capacities of her clients, Diane believes authenticity, respect, and humor promote a supportive therapeutic environment-inviting healing, change, and growth.

Therapeutic goals reflect the client's desire to increase life functioning and satisfaction and can include the following: reducing symptoms of depression and/or anxiety, making personal changes, working through change or loss, strengthening relationships, exploring what feeds and nourishes one's spirit so life can be more fully embraced and enjoyed.

Diane uses play therapy with children and incorporates expressive therapies in her work with interested adults. In her years of clinical practice she has developed a deep interest and curiosity in the relationship between creativity, healing, and growth. She is currently researching creativity and its connection to healing and emotional well-being.
